Small group tours with a big story to share

With small group tours like these, there's a big story to tell.

The Battlefield Tours of Canada offers open talks, livestreams, zoom town halls, & encourages collaboration at every turn.

Strengthen your perspective, your connection to place, your connection to community, and perhaps, you'll see why the tours we take around the world, benefit.

Sam goes live with Mercat Tours

Tania, Scotland's professional storyteller from Mercat Tours joins us LIVE from Edinburgh at 1PM EST for BURNS NIGHT 2021 online to celebrate Robbie Burns with us!

She also shows us how to toast!!

We can't WAIT to get back to Edinburgh to tour with Mercat Tours again - as they like to say,

'History is a #damngoodstory, what it needs is a #damngoodtelling!

- and that's exactly what Tania gives us - a DAMN good telling!

Sam talks with Eric Brunt

28-year-old Canadian filmmaker, Eric Brunt, drove across Canada in search of veterans from the Second World War for his documentary "Last Ones Standing"

"Out of the 416 (veterans I've interviewed), I've lost 136, ...so about 1 in 3; crazy eh? That's 32%." He tells me in our 30min video, "I knew this would be a race against time."

In this video, he shared some of the remarkable moments along his 2-YEAR journey to capture the last stories of our Second World War Veterans, and the discoveries he's made along the way are both fascinating and humbling.

***HERE ARE THE LINKS***

Want to learn more about Eric Brunt? Support his documentary "Last Ones Standing" - he's hoping he can finish the film by the end of 2021 - he will need all the support he can get to get this tremendous feat up off the ground!

Sam talks with Lord Charles Bruce

Lord Charles Bruce, the heir to the 11th Earl of Elgin, is a direct descendant of Robert the Bruce, the Great King of Scots - also known as the Outlaw King in the Netflix film "Outlaw King".

In this video, The Battlefield Tours outbound operator, Sam, chats with Lord Charles Bruce in this full-length interview about Scottish Ancestry, Canadian Connections & we'll get an inside look at some of the incredible artifacts in the Bruce Family archive.

Sam talks with Jayne Poolton

In this video, I chat with Jayne Poolton-Turvey, Founder of the Every Man Remembered Project, and co-author of her father's book 'Destined to Survive'. We talk about this year of virtual remembrance and all the wonderful initiatives Jayne is spearheading. We discuss who she thinks needs our support and awareness right now - and what she'll be doing for Remembrance Day this year.

For Remembrance Day this year, I wanted to get in touch with some of the remarkable people in the Battlefield Community that have contributed to the Canadian battlefield story.

Sam talks with the Canada Poland War Museum

Sam chats with Alex Van Landschoot, and her father, Gilbert Van Landschoot, founder and curator of The Canada & Poland War Museums situated in the heart of Adegem, Belgium

The Canada & Poland War Museums are considered to be among the most unique of all Second World War collections in Europe - and luckily for us, it's primarily Canadian!

The collection comprises more than 300 complete uniforms, transmitting equipment, and a host of the largest most lifelike dioramas our travellers and guides say they have ever seen on tour.

One of the most special highlights about the collection is that you can find some uniforms attached with a name and photo.

Every year they try to link soldiers' logs to the items in their collection - and the lockdown has allowed them to uncover even more in their enormous archive.

Sam talks with Mark Zuehlke

For Remembrance Day this year, I wanted to get in touch with some of the remarkable people in the Battlefield Community that have contributed to the Canadian battlefield story.

In this video, I chat with esteemed Canadian historian & author Mark Zuehlke. We discuss his books, talk about what he'll be doing in this year of virtual remembrance, and chat about who he thinks needs our support and awareness right now.

Sam talks with David O'Keefe

David O'Keefe, the Canadian historian & professor, chats with Sam about his experiences working on History Channel's War Junk with Wayne Abbott.

Sam talks with Steve Douglas

Meet Steve Douglas, owner of the British Grenadier Bookshop in the heart of Ypres, Belgium.

In this video, Steve gives us the chance to look around his shop, while showing us some of his favorite pieces in his collection, and shares with us some of his favorite personal experiences while running both the shop and local tours in the area.

Now more than ever, shops like Steve's need our support.

Virtual Vimy Day with Veteran Affairs Canada

We can't be there to see Vimy in real life this year, so let's bring a little bit of Vimy to us!

Veteran Affairs Canada's Operations Manager onsite at Vimy Ridge, Jean-Pierre Godbout, joins Sam & Glenn online LIVE for Vimy Day.

We'll be talking about the importance of Vimy, what Vimy's been like without the visitors they used to receive, and we'll share some of our personal experiences at Vimy.
